Lake Claire Community Land Trust Operations Manager
Position Overview
The Lake Claire Community Land Trust (LCCLT) is a 1.7-acre protected greenspace that has been preserved for over 40 years, tucked away in the historic Lake Claire neighborhood of Atlanta. As a neighborhood-based nonprofit and donor-supported community space, we are dedicated to preserving greenspace and fostering community enrichment, environmental education, and celebration. The Land Trust features over 50 community garden beds, a children’s garden, a playground, a pond, and a stage with an amphitheater. It serves as a beloved gathering place for neighbors and friends to connect with nature, build community, and enjoy the arts through festivals, drum circles, workdays, workshops, children's events, and more.
We are seeking to fill a newly created position, Land Trust Operations Manager, to support the evolution and day-to-day operations of the Land Trust. This role serves as the primary point person and public-facing representative of the organization, overseeing regular operations, coordination, and fundraising initiatives. It combines administrative oversight with community engagement to ensure the sustainable management and growth of the Land Trust. The Land Trust is led by a Board of Directors and supported by several active committees responsible for land management, events, and programming. This position will work collaboratively across these groups to ensure coordinated, efficient, and mission-aligned operations, and will be supported and guided by their oversight, experience, and institutional knowledge.
Position Details
Title: Land Trust Operations Manager
Pay Rate: $1,200 monthly rate (anticipated hours 10-15 per week, with a maximum of 60 hours a month)
Job Type: Contractual, Part-Time, Hybrid, some in-person events and meetings required.
Contractual Duration: Initial term of one year, with the potential for extension.
Benefits: None
Desired Start Date: Mid-Late June 2025 (flexible)
Potential Responsibilities Based on Experience and Capacity:
Communications, Administrative & Legal Management
Maintain familiarity with LCCLT policies, insurance requirements, and lease agreements
Manage renewal and completion of insurance and lease-related documentation
Meet with Southern Conservation Trust (SCT) representative for annual review
Organize and digitize legal documents, policies, leases, and agreements
Oversee billboard rentals and associated funds
Provide input on annual budget development
Attend monthly Board meetings and provide timely updates to the Board
Assist with external communications and digital outreach, including the Clarion monthly newspaper, managing social media platforms (Nextdoor, Facebook, Instagram) and updating the website (Squarespace).
Community & Volunteer Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for LCCLT
Provide orientation and support for new volunteers, board members, committee members
Meet with workshop and class instructors on site to introduce them to the space and review applicable rules and policies.
Maintain regular communication and involvement with committees, paid staff, and active volunteers
Conduct outreach to encourage board recruitment, committee participation and volunteer engagement
Monitor task timelines, ensuring accountability and timely completion for ongoing committee projects
Organize and coordinate volunteer groups for various initiatives
Identify volunteer talents and growth interests and communicate to correct committee
Recognize and celebrate accomplishments of all involved members and volunteers by organizing an appreciation day
Fundraising & Development
Contribute to fundraising initiatives aimed at covering organizational expenses and staffing contracts
Manage fundraising campaign of increasing monthly supporters
Write donor letters and communications with potential sponsors
Coordinate and communicate with Land Trust fundraising organizers by delegating tasks to volunteers and committees
Collaborate with the Board and Committees to identify and pursue grant opportunities supporting grounds improvements, programs, and staffing needs.
Event & Land Management
Coordinate festival logistics with committee, including poster printing and distribution
Manage signage placement and removal for events and general property information
Maintain bulletin boards and update signage as needed
Update work day information and seasonal closing time signs
Qualifications
Must live in Atlanta area, preferably intown
Preference for demonstrated familiarity with the LCCLT (through volunteering, committee service, board membership, or active community involvement) and commitment to the values of nature conservation, community engagement, service to children and families, racial and economic diversity and inclusion.
Experience with volunteer coordination and community engagement
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines simultaneously
Self-motivated with ability to work independently while supporting a community-based organization
Fundraising and/or grant writing experience a plus
Proficient computer-related skills and Google Suite experience ideal
