Big Gazebo. Constructed in 1993 using materials purchased and donated by neighbor Kathy Kennedy, the gazebo has been the scene of many potlucks, July 4th cook-offs, Halloween pumpkin carvings, Easter egg hunts and more. It provides social space for parents while their kids enjoy the sand pile, swing, and jungle gym. Photos above show the Gazebo under construction and the annual Fourth of July picnic; below is a watermelon-seed spitting contest at the picnic.
The Playground features minimal play equipment – swing, jungle gym, large concrete pipe, and sand pile – augmented by hand-me-down toys donated by neighbors. No broken toys, please! Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Comment from a frequent visitor: “You don’t have much in the way of play equipment, but after we come here my kids are happy for hours!”
