Built by neighbors in 2002, the Stage was the inspiration of Mark Sanger who had directed a play under the gazebo and visualized more theater and music productions. It was dedicated to him a few months before he died. It has been used for many purposes including weddings, memorial services, movie showings, open mikes, comedy performances. Musical fundraisers are currently held three times a year: Peace & Love Fest in the spring and Jerry Jam, a Grateful Dead tribute, in the fall. The first Peace & Love Fest took place April 19, 2003. The Amphitheater and Firepit features benches made of re-purposed granite curbstones, collected by Dan Salmond to replace the original ones which were reclaimed railroad ties. This is the venue for the monthly Drum Circle, a tradition since about 1990, currently held on the first Saturday of the month. The granite benches were purchased from the city in 2013 with a $1,000 grant from former city councilperson Natalyn Archibong’s office, obtained through Lake Claire Neighbors. The money also funded the side wall of the amphitheater, picnic benches, and general beautification. The fence was re-built with the proceeds of a performance by neighborhood band Webster, now known as West, who generously organize a LCCLT fundraiser on our stage each year.
