The Solar Panel, located in the Path Gardens, powers the well pump across the path, pumping water to the 1600-gallon tank under the Sunset Overlook to gravity-feed water to Dekalb Berm Gardens. The well was drilled in 1990 with a grant from the Amoco Foundation through SouthFace Institute. The shaft goes 500 feet down into granite substructure. The water is not regularly tested and is not drinkable – for watering plants only! Photo shows Norman Glassman at work installing the panel.
