BEE HIVES

Welcome to the Land Trust’s buzzing corner of community stewardship! These colorful bee hives are made possible through the support of the Georgia Beekeepers Association and their Save The Honey Bee specialty license plate program. Every plate purchased directly supports education for beekeepers and the public, pollinator protection efforts, and ongoing honey bee research across Georgia.

About the Save The Honey Bee License Plate

The Georgia Beekeepers Association receives $22 from every plate sold each year—the maximum amount allowed. This funding helps protect pollinators statewide and builds a stronger, more resilient environment for the bees that help keep our gardens, farms, and forests thriving.

How to Buy a Plate & Support the Bees

Online:

  • Already registered in Georgia? Visit the Georgia Motor Vehicle site.

  • Choose “Tag Renewal”, locate your vehicle, and select “Yes” when asked if you want a new plate.

  • From the dropdown menu, pick the Save The Honey Bee plate.

  • Renewals are easy—simply choose to keep your current tag when prompted.

Registering a car for the first time?
Just select the Save The Honey Bee plate from the list when completing your registration.

In Person:

  • Ask for the Save The Honey Bee tag at your local tag office.

  • Most offices issue a temporary plate on the spot.

  • If staff can’t locate the tag, have them search for license plate code “BK”.

While You Visit

Please admire the hives from behind the rope to give the bees space to work safely. Our beekeeping partners host workshops, demos, and educational pop-ups throughout the year, often right here near the hives.

Stay tuned by following us on social media and checking the community bulletin boards for upcoming bee-themed events.

Thank you for helping protect Georgia’s pollinators!
