Forest Bathing – Shinrin-yoku – is the Japanese art of slowing down in nature and letting the forest work its quiet magic. In Japan, medical doctors regularly prescribe it to their patients.
It’s not a hike. It’s an unhurried sensory journey: feeling the texture of bark, breathing in pine-scented air, listening to birdsong. Science shows it lowers stress, boosts immunity, and restores mental clarity.
A guided session is like a gentle ceremony – you step away from the noise, awaken your senses, and remember your place in the living world. The forest offers no agenda, yet gives you exactly what you need: peace, renewal, and a deeper connection to yourself.
Spurgen Brown is a certified Forest Bathing Guide, trained in Barefooting, Earthing techniques, and Silence Therapy, among other skills. Join him at the Land Trust this Sunday, Sept. 14, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., to experience Forest Bathing for yourself. There is no fee, but “love offerings” are encouraged.
